The Adventure Education and Outdoor Leadership curriculum is designed to be a high-impact academic experience focusing on interdisciplinarity and experiential learning. Coursework will equip students with the necessary tools to facilitate meaningful educational outdoor experiences with a variety of audiences while effectively managing risk and promoting social, environmental, and economic stewardship. With a range of available elective courses in complementary disciplines, students may choose a focus area that augments their understanding of adventure education’s social, environmental, and economic aspects or an area that supplements their chosen major.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the undergraduate minor in Adventure Education and Outdoor Leadership at The College of St. Scholastica, the student will be able to:
- Explain adventure education's foundational psychosocial, educational, and ecological theories and principles.
- Demonstrate proficiency in a variety of outdoor skills and facilitation of adventure education activities.
- Demonstrate effective planning, facilitation, and assessment in various educational and recreational contexts.
- Identify and effectively manage risk in various contexts and administer appropriate care in an emergency in urban and wilderness contexts.
- Synthesize various disciplinary perspectives to address stewardship from the social, environmental, and economic responsibilities in adventure education and outdoor recreation.
- Utilize diverse disciplinary perspectives to articulate the importance of outdoor recreation and exploring nature spaces as part of a healthy and sustainable society.
