A Master’s Degree in Health Information Management (HIM) is focused on ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of health information and healthcare systems. HIM professionals team with technology professionals, clinicians and administrators to develop, implement and maintain software and data systems that support efficient work processes and provide authorized access to pertinent information for use in patient care, education and research. The curriculum is designed to prepare professionals to thrive in an information-driven healthcare environment. Courses focus on management and leadership, development and implementation of clinical information systems, database methods, healthcare quality, data analytics, medical vocabularies and classification systems, research methods, privacy, security and compliance, ethics, project management and healthcare delivery. Completion of this degree earns eligibility to sit for the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential.

Upon completion of the Master’s Degree in Health Information Management, the student will:
