The School of Arts and Sciences creates inclusive learning environments that model collaboration, cultural fluency, scientific reasoning, and critical thinking. SAS faculty members foster inquiry into spiritual values, human culture and behavior, and the natural world. The School of Arts and Sciences prepares students to be ethical thinkers and effective communicators by promoting active learning and scholarship.
As the center for liberal learning in the Benedictine tradition at The College of St. Scholastica, the School of Arts and Sciences nurtures a diverse community of students, scholars, teachers, and creators with the skills to solve urgent problems, address inequity, and serve their communities. The School will enhance the culture of inquiry that encourages students to learn by asking questions and solving problems. Faculty members will promote interdisciplinary investigation and discovery to create opportunities for students to explore ideas, lead, serve, and find purpose in life.
