The Music program cultivates a vibrant artistic community through holistic educational experiences and engaging performances. Our courses in history, theory, and applied study guide students' musical and intellectual development, while performance ensembles focus on high-quality experiential learning and civic engagement rooted in the College's Benedictine values. Learning Outcomes
The music department will guide students' musical and intellectual development, focusing on high-quality experiential learning and civic engagement rooted in the college's Benedictine values. Upon completion of the Music Minor at The College of St. Scholastica, the graduate will be able to:
- Analyze music using foundational skills that generate understanding and synthesis of musical ideas.
- Apply contextual and intercultural awareness to music throughout the ages.
- Communicate, personally and collectively, effectively through performance.
- Demonstrate creativity through performance, improvisation, arranging, and/or composition.
- Demonstrate theoretical and practical pedagogical knowledge of teaching and learning.
