The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree at the College of Saint Scholastica prepares future nursing leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to lead health care change and advance population health at the highest levels of nursing practice.The Department of Graduate Nursing offers two DNP degree options: Baccalaureate to Doctor of Nursing Practice (BSDNP) and a Post-Graduate DNP.
The BS to DNP program educates professional nurses for advanced roles in healthcare leadership including an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) concentration: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). Doctoral-level courses are integrated throughout the advanced practice nursing curriculum and prepare the future DNP to expand their knowledge and practice options. The BS to DNP is completed in 3- 4 years and offered in a hybrid format consisting of online courses supplemented with minimal on-campus meetings.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Doctor of Nursing Practice and/or post-graduate APRN certificate, the graduate will be able to:
- Synthesize knowledge and apply evidence-based research from nursing and related disciplines as a basis for advanced nursing practice across the lifespan.
- Implement roles of advanced nursing practice responsive to changing social, economic, political, technological, and environmental conditions.
- Apply skills in leadership on interprofessional teams to collaboratively improve patient and population health outcomes, particularly among rural and underserved.

Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Concentration
The Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Concentration includes theory online, on campus days for skills and simulation, and precepted clinical experiences. The BS to DNP degree option includes DNP core course work the first two years of the program with AGACNP clinical coursework occurring the third and fourth years of the program. The post-graduate APRN certificate option can be completed in three consecutive semesters.
