The mission of the transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy Program is to provide practicing physical therapists whose entry level degree is not the doctor of physical therapy, with a quality education in contemporary practice, strengthened by ongoing scholarly endeavors, and to promote the spirit of community and professional involvement. The St. Scholastica t-DPT program is committed to accomplishing the goals set for by the APTA to prepare doctoral level therapists for efficient and effective patient centered care. It is a distance learning education program designed for the working clinician. It advances knowledge in content areas that have been added to current entry-level DPT programs intending to advance the physical therapy profession. All courses are designed for and delivered online.

Learning Outcomes
Specific content outcomes for the tDPT program were developed to fill the gap in knowledge base between entry-level bachelor's and master's degree programs and the entry-level doctor of physical therapy program. The CSS tDPT outcomes are to:
- Analyze current health legislative policies and their impact on professional practice.
- Critically and effectively evaluate and synthesize research leading to integration of evidence based practice in practice.
- Demonstrate critical thinking, problem solving and leadership skills required of autonomous practitioners.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the physical therapy profession including but not limited to life-long learning, advocacy for the profession and interprofessional collaboration.
- Integrate critical thinking and differential screening skills to improve comprehensive management of patients and clients.
- Synthesize acquired skills for professional advancement.
